Crosby, Stills & Nash were to have created an original score for the film, but a falling-out between Hopper and Stephen Stills ended the collaboration. Many of the songs chosen for the film’s rough cut by Hopper and editor Donn Cambern would ultimately become the soundtrack.

Listening to the CD while writing this review, it is quite clear why I am an animation music fan. The CD starts off strong and does not stop once it gets going. There are no sound bite tracks to get in the way of the music. The artists sound like they were enjoying performing their songs, which adds to the fun. The artists seem to be natural fits for their individual tracks as well. I feel like I could pop the CD in and drive around the country several time just listening to and singling along with the music and it would never get old.
Born in Canada in 1978, Furtado was inspired to sing and perform at an early age. She started singing at 4 and began writing her own lyrics at 12. Shortly before she graduated from secondary school, she began making contacts within the rap and hip hop community in Toronto. A solo performance at the 1997 Honey Jam in Toronto caught the attention of Gerald Eaton and Brian West, two members of the group The Philosopher Kings. The duo helped Furtado create a demo which led to a deal with DreamWorks records. Her first single appeared on the soundtrack album for the film Brokedown Palace.
It is a must to ensure that your track is original. Publishers are looking for witty and creative style that is new, fresh and bold. Original tracks have longer staying power in the top music charts, too. So take time to evaluate whether your track is of your own or just a mere copy-cat.
